Praenom is a reference work for parents. We treat name etymology, popularity, and cultural context with the same rigor a print reference dictionary would apply.
Sourcing
- Popularity figures come exclusively from the U.S. Social Security Administration public dataset.
- Meanings and origins are derived from primary linguistic and historical references, cross-checked across at least two sources where possible.
- When a meaning is contested or unattested, we say so explicitly rather than inventing one.
AI-assisted enrichment
Long-tail name pages use LLM-assisted summarization to render meaning bundles into readable prose. The underlying facts (origin, popularity rank, syllable count) are pulled from structured data, never generated. Every enrichment batch is sampled by an editor before release.
Corrections policy
If you spot an error, email corrections@praenom.com. Substantive corrections are made within 7 days and the page’s last-reviewed date is updated. We do not silently alter historical claims.
Independence
Advertising and affiliate links never influence editorial decisions. Sponsored placements (if any) are labeled.
